Fire in Kabbalah represents will entering reality. 

The Horse is that decision moving. 

The Yod is the moment before it can be taken back.

Divine Name correspondence: Yod (י) = Fire = the first point of creation, the Monad.

So the Fire Horse year corresponds to the Yod phase:  The moment the point becomes movement. The Divine Name (Y-H-V-H) and Fire

The four letters represent stages of manifestation:
